Digital Photography and
10 Items To Take With You

It may surprise you to see the word – Camera – in the number one position but think about it…can you be absolutely certain that you will remember to pick it up and take it with you. Speaking from experience it is so very easy not to.

With regards to the Camera bag make sure it has everything in it that should be – including camera, extra memory and extra battery.

  • Camera
  • Camera bag
  • Extra Memory
  • Extra battery
  • Note book, pen and watch
  • Hot and/or cold drinks
  • Map and compass
  • First aid kit
  • Extra clothing and a plastic bag
  • Change of socks and shoes

Now, for the Note book pen and watch as you may need or wish to make some notes. For example: a note of the place where you are taking your photographs. Also, to make a note of the number of the photograph to go along with notes such as time of day taken, cloudy, sunny, misty, windy and
in which direction you were facing comes in handy if you think you might like to see that shot in a different light.
This is also one use for the compass.

You will probably need to make use of at least a compass if you are going somewhere you have never been before. Another place may call for the use of a map and compass.

It is better to have some hot and or cold drinks with you even if you find you do not drink them. For example you will not have to do a lot of back tracking and use up valuable time looking for some place to buy them, not to mention the money saved. Handy also as a safety precaution if you become
disorientated or lost.

A first aid kit is something to be carried at all times from simply a tube antibacterial cream for minor scratches or cuts to a boxed kit you can purchase from your local drug store.

Why a change of clothing you might ask, well for starters a vehicle may drive through a puddle and soak you or you may slip and end up in a muddy pond or stream not to mention that passing torrential downpour.

And the plastic bag? To put your wet clothes in of course!

Socks and shoes are listed separately because on many occasions it is only the feet and shoes that get wet especially if that one, certain picture of the day can only be got by standing in the stream or wet, muddy area.

Of course, you can always stay home and photograph your own backyard but once you get a digital camera in your hands…..
